Reham and I have been talking about launching a podcast show for ages! Specifically, December of 2015. I remember searching for the ‘perfect’ microphone on Amazon, chatting for hours with Reham about the different equipment we will need and should the podcast episode include both of us or should each one have an episode all to herself. Did it really need to take all this time? No.
I didn’t end up buying any of the “most recommended microphones for podcasters” or any other equipment. Both of us just used our computers, few software (mostly free) and our phone’s hands-free set. We felt we were seeking perfection, just like most entrepreneurs. However, a couple of months ago we had one of those “Let us get real and honest” talks, you know those not so fun talks, right? Well, we had one and we came out with the following:
- Helping ladies start up their creative businesses and succeeding was much more important than our egos, how perfect everything looked and how polished our new baby looks.
- We vowed to make starting and running creative businesses as joyful and successful by sharing all the things that did work for each of us, all the (embarrassing) failures we have been through.
- (This is a huge one) We decided to have our podcast in Arabic instead of English. I know some might be baffled by this decision, but there is a logic behind it, I promise. The podcast’s language was never an issue open for discussion, any sane person won’t question using English, and both of us are bilingual so the language barrier isn’t the problem here. However, during our ‘tough-love’ talk we really dug into “who are your target audience” question (GOD! I HATE that question! ), and our hearts and souls guided us to the sector hardly anyone speaks to or nourishes; Middle Eastern, Arabic speaking ladies.
- We will be including a written post in English with every episode so our English-speaking tribe benefits from our weekly podcast.
- All our podcast episodes will be available in video form on our YouTube Channel (Subscribe if you haven’t yet), and in the near future, we will be including English subtitles as we always do with our video tutorials.
Excited? We know we are! Our first episode is much shorter than the upcoming ones and it is where you get to know us and get to know our backgrounds better. Moreover, we will tell you what topics we will be covering in our podcast.
